Development Report Q4 2011

PressPage is growing fast, we have broken record after record in the past three months. A side-effect of this growth is a steady increase in feedback. As feedback is the fuel of our development efforts, our pace of implementation has had a boost too. This report briefly describes the most important updates we have implemented in the last three months.

Layout & Design
At the start of October we updated a couple of modules with new options for the ordering of content, making it possible to move videos, downloads and audio files in the right order by means of drag and drop. In the same way we made sure that headlines can now be moved and content can be placed before a headline if needed. That way a Social Media Release might start with a video.
A new option in the newsroom layout makes it possible to adjust the number of headlines being shown. Instead of a default setting, users can choose between 3, 5 or 10 headlines.
With the introduction of custom favicons on account level all PressPages can be integrated even better. We recommend all our clients to add their favicons for the best possible visual representation.
The image gallery has been given an upgrade to enable a 3D carousel that can be used on newsroom level and Social Media Release level. It adds a nice visual style and a sense of interaction and movement. Try it in your next project!

Social Media
At the end of October we introduced a Twitter 'follow' button to the social media releases. That way readers can instantly follow the account that is attached to the release. Along the same lines we worked on providing more Google+ functionality. We believe Google+ will slowly but surely grow to be an important social network. That's why we added sharing options and profile links to enable more interaction with Google+. We hope these social updates help our clients build their followerbase.
For Facebook we fixed an issue that came up regularly. When people needed to find the fanpage ID to create a 'like pile' they just could not find it. So providing the URL of the fanpage will now be enough, we'll fetch the ID. 

We've worked hard on a technical revamp of the statistics which we introduced in the beginning of December. By using a HTML5 library (Highcharts) everyone can now take a look at their statistics using their iPad, iPhone or other non-Flash device. We will test and introduce new graphs in the coming months and hope to surprise you regularly. 

New features
Of course we added some completely new features as well. One of them is the calendar, which can be added to newsrooms as well as Social Media Releases to give readers an idea of any upcoming events or milestones.
Another more technical feature is the possibility to add multiple domains to one account, enabling the use of one domain per language. This improves the integration of PressPage at URL level. 
Another improvement implemented recently is a 'cloud' enhancement which ensures that wherever you are opening a newsroom or social media release the download speed will always be optimal. Our cloudservice will automatically choose the closest server.
